(Nashville, TN) Singer-songwriter Brittany Mulgrew held an industry-only performance at S.I.R. Studios on Wednesday, March 18, at 5:30 p.m.
The 23-year-old first came to Nashville in the fall of 2008 to begin recording tracks with producer and guitarist Larry Beaird, of Beaird Music Group, Inc. Mulgrew, who writes all of her own material, cut a number of demos with the veteran producer, garnering interest from several industry execs in the local Nashville music community.
"I am impressed with Brittany's talent as a singer, that's for sure, but it was the fact that she writes all of her own songs that really grabbed my attention," says Beaird.
The Pittsburgh native began writing and singing as a freshman in high school, influenced by the success of local pop star, Christina Aguilera. In 2003, she was chosen as a member for Sony Music's newest girl group, only to see the project dissolve when the label merged with BMG.
After self-releasing her Kissing Strangers album in 2006, Mulgrew began to gravitate towards a more modern, pop-country sound, leading her to explore opportunities in Nashville last year.
"I think my influences run somewhere between pop and country. Artists like Carrie Underwood, Sugarland and Keith Urban have definitely helped me shape my sound, but I also grew up listening to singers like Christina Aguilera and Avril Lavigne," Mulgrew says.
In between her writing and recording schedule, Mulgrew still found time to graduate with her Masters degree in Education from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh.
All country music artists have to start somewhere, and most often that's amongst family, friends or their local community. The best country music isn't necessarily found in the world of the existing popular or famous stars, but often in the small clubs, venues and organisations that provide country performers of any "level" the chance to share their music. That's the true nature of country music, it comes from the heart and real lives of real people.
Giving all artists the opportunity to air their music to a wider audience is an important aim of Country Music Broadcasting. CMB is keen to hear from show presenters, artists and country music organisations to see what assistance, support, promotion and broadcast opportunities CMB can help provide. Remember everyone has a beginning, and this offer via CMB to be heard on-air is an excellent chance to achieve exposure. So don't hesitate to contact CMB with your ideas and suggestions or to let CMB Radio know about any existing country radio shows you believe could benefit from the backing or support of CMB.
If you would like to be considered for an on-air interview, please do not hesitate to contact CMB. You will then be contacted requesting further details and/or to make appropriate interview arrangements.
