AUSTRALIAN DREAM

Memorable Moments
"...it had been an idea eating me for years, about a songwriter who's own song comes true. In some ways a wake up call for honesty in writing, mostly I needed to create this play born of songs I'd written like 'Little Girl' and 'Happy Father's Day'... so I get the chance to start up a drama group, some great young people auditioned... Cameron, Mike, Tammy, Elise, Adam etc... no-one had any experience... it was a tough play to do, emotional, full on, set around a hard rock outdoor concert... life, love, pressure, loneliness and death...it had it all..."

The Classics
Do you remember the night we woke up,
Eyes wide open, sweat upon the brow,
We thought we could hear a child cry,
Then the sirens split the night.

Do you remember in the darkness,
Running outside until we saw the lights,
Those white cars parked down by the bridge,
With their spotlights on the kid.

I held you tight, I felt you tremble,
You reached up for the cross around your neck,
Someone barked out an order,
Couldn't understand what was said.

The kid in white fell down into the bay,
The policeman on the bridge just turned away,
As the tears rolled down your face,
I stared into the darkness.

Darling well I don't mean to scare you,
But tonight, I thought I heard a scream,
Another cry of desperation,
Leaving this Australian dream.
