SKIES OF MY MIND
The epic into young death

Kip Davies, CountryPunk

Memorable Moments
"...ever looked at the colour of the sky in your dreams? When it's all happening, alive, exciting, I'd see blue skies in my mind. Then she was gone, just like that. Whatever I thought about, if I looked up at that sky in my head, it was grey. I was a total black shade of grey myself. I walked so much, saw so much, no sleep, no shoes, tears and anger... I rock up even on the Catholic Archbishop of Melbourne's place one morning... after another night on the streets trying to escape my madness... Teddy Bear biscuits and a cup of tea. Gave this emotional outburst which I reckoned was a great expose about how f**ked up the world was... they even listened to me, didn't even call security or have me kicked out."

Live/Video Version
So all things must pass,
Stare above the skylines,
See it all seems so far,
Far away from these grey thoughts.

Every night seems the same,
The same picture still taunts me,
I still here you say,
Nothings gonna change tomorrow.

And I've never really seen a cross before,
Like the ones in the skies of my mind.

Another night on the town,
Walking desolations alleys,
You said fight on my friend,
Don't give in to your sorrows.

Someone must try,
Cos the cause will still be there,
Though the fighter has gone,
Don't let what's past slip by.

And they always said its lies,
It hurts only in your head,
But my soul has seemed to die,
Now that yesterday is dead,
And they all can carry on,
Cos what they like aint wrong,
To them it's all today,
Let the dead rest in their graves

Well the skies can turn to blue,
Times will change the themes,
Some places will remain,
With the memories of your dreams.

So the grey streets at dawn,
Still glow in the sunrise,
The old man moves no more,
He just lays there in my arms,
Forever to be free,
I wish she'd taken me.

And I've never really seen a cross before,
Like the ones in the skies of my mind.
