The beauty of Spring in Tasmania

Yes, it's late Spring here, it's Australia and IT'S SNOWING! Thanks Mandy for sending in this still from our webcam (yep it's me enjoying the wild weather big grin)

Tasmania is such a great island to live on, and probably the only State in Australia you 'll capture a view like this on the webcam in late October! Summer is just 5 weeks away! Earlier this week Ruby and I were sitting around on a hot day at her bush block, playing some guitar and stuff and talking about the high bushfire danger that had been declared.

Unfortunately despite this cold snap, it won't do much to wet down an otherwise tinder dry Tasmania. There has been so little rain, and for us folks on the land the down side of the sudden cold is that the frost is killing off fruit and other new spring crops. But that's life! Hopefully got some good photo's of the snowfall and I'll pop them online soon... all our best to everyone - Kip and Ruby. smile

Be seein' ya big horse

blogsada (4k image)
If there's a heaven for horses, then I reckon my old girl Sada is up there tonight kicking up her heels and running free with all her flags flying.

Today it was time to let my old girl go, the winter had taken it out of her, and at over 30 years she was feeling her age. I knew something was up when I couldn't even coax her to eat an apple. We're lucky up here, our local vets Louise and Stuart love their animals as much as I do, so it was handled peacefully. She just lay her head beside me and literally went to sleep. A faithful mate to the end.

Be seeing you someday old girl, enjoy your well earned rest.

For all those who have touched our lives

Remembering lost mates: Bali, October 12th.

You know I still dream about you,
Sunlit hair and eyes of china blue.
Something in the way you smile,
It reaches out, touches my heart,
And I am missing you
